And the Winner is….

On Saturday June 2nd Titans held their 2nd Annual Player Awards & Dinner at The Lion, Hampton Wick. The exclusive, invite only affair, was the perfect ending to our inaugural season in the GFSN. Ably hosted by our very own Paul (O’Grady) Wheeler, with a just little help from Wilma Fingerdoo, the evening was a great success.

Here at the Titans we believe there are no losers in our squad and as such every player went away with an award of some description. If not, they at least received a medal of recognition. Of the less coveted awards we would like to point out two notable winners.

  • Darwin Matilda won the “Be Safe, Be Seen” award, and received a lovely fluorescent Workman’s jacket to go with it.
  • Ed Connell won “Titan most likely to fail his MOT” award, going away the proud owner of a can of WD40 (”loosens rusted parts”)

On a more serious note, Titans extended their thanks and appreciation to both Gerrard Tomnay, the team coach, and Pete Kirkham, referee of unwavering patience!

Now for the real winners. The awards are voted for by fellow squad members with the obvious exception of the Managers Player of the Year. The results are as follows:

  • Players Player of the Year 2006/7 – Matt Baker
  • Most Improved Player of the Year 2006/7 – Andy Salter
  • Clubman of The Year 2006/7 – Paul Wheeler
  • Managers Player of the Year 2006/7 – Matt Baker

Well done to all three players. Please don’t rest on your laurels though, we expect bigger and better things of you all next season! Once again you can see pictures from the evening in the Gallery section. Hi Ya Luv productions also added their tuppence worth to the proceedings in the form of a short video which can be viewed by clicking here.
