Birthday Tournament Arrangements (updated)
The London Titans second birthday will be celebrated, as was our first, with a mini tournament. This will take place at Old Deer Park, Richmond, Saturday 8th December, kick off 1200 (player registration 1130). Seven teams have so far agreed to take part representing London Leftfooters, London Falcons and London Romans FC. This will be followed by a small celebration in the Richmond Arms afterwards with alcohol and cake (well, what more do you want???).
The Mayor of Richmond has confirmed that he will be attending the event and presenting the trophy and the winners’ medals at the Richmond Arms afterwards.
The arrangements for the tournament are as follows.
The tournament will be on two pitches at Old Deer Park (Find Us). There are changing facilities available but these may be busy before the tournament starts due to other matches being played at the Park. It may therefore be sensible to arrive already kitted up. There are no locker facilities so please ensure that all your valuables are left with a non playing member of your party.
All players must be registered by 1130 at the control tent. Team captains must ensure that all their players sign the waiver which must be handed in at the time of registration. Entry is £30 per team and this must be paid at registration. (Cheques to be made payable to London Titans or payment online before the event – London Titans, Ac no 51610481, sort code 40-38-18.
The tournament will be the same format as last year. That is to say an all plays all round robin league. The games will last for 20 minutes each and there will be no half time. 3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw. The winner of the tournament will be the team with the most points after playing all their games. In the event of a points tie, the winner will be decided in the following order; goal difference, record against tied team in the round robin competition, penalty shoot out. The games will be played according to the GFSN rules, that is to say regular FA rules but with rolling substitutions. It is anticipated that we will have referees for both pitches but would ask that each playing team provide someone to run the line in each of their games.
As we must complete all games before it gets dark (c4pm and before the changing rooms close at 4:30pm), there will be only be a 5 minute gap between games.
We hope that you will all join us at the Richmond Arms afterwards for the awards ceremony and presentation by the Mayor of Richmond. There will be a buffet and a birthday cake. We also hope that some of you will stay for the 2008 Titans calendar launch at 7pm.
