GFSN Cup QF – HotScots 6 – 3 Titans

Titans travelled up to the Scottish capital to play HotScots FC in the quarter finals of the GFSN cup in confident mood after 3 successive victories.  Unfortunately, and despite being 3-2 up, the Titans lost 6-3 to be knocked out of the cup.

Hotscots stormed into a 2-0 lead within 15 minutes including a penalty but Titans hit back to level within the half hour, Birchy and Tom scoring the goals.  Tezza then scored a brilliant solo goal, beating several Hotscots players before scoring, to put the Titans 3-2 up.

Unfortunately the Titans couldn’t hold out till half time and Hotscots equalised right on the stroke of half time.

That wasn’t the end of the scoring but unfortunately it was the Hotscots who did all of it, netting three times in the 2nd half to run out 6-3 winners, and progress to the semi finals of the GFSN Cup in their first season of entering the GFSN.

Manager Ed Connell told me he was generally happy with the performance of the team,  Titans had long periods of pocession and for a 30 minute spell in the first half we all over Hotscots but some silly mistakes in defence cost Titans dearly.  If we could have held out at 3-2 till half time things might have been very different.

Titans hadn’t played a match since the beginning of December and had hardly trained due to Christmas and the weather so he felt this was a deciding factor in the defeat.  He told me next Sunday’s training will be important to iron out a few things and get the team ready for the daunting trip to play the league leaders, Nottingham Ballbois, the following weekend.
